We are a proudly independent, family-run
neighborhood bookstore under new ownership in 2018!
We welcome applications at any time! We can expect
the need for at least one more bookseller within the next six months and hope
to bring the right candidate on board as a pinch-hitter and as extra holiday
hands in the meantime.
Being a bookseller means…
· Enthusiastic, diplomatic, efficient customer
service
· Intuitive computer skills for working the register, tracking inventory, searching the internet, and handling small issues like printer troubleshooting that inevitably arise
· Knowing the layout of the store, including which titles are on special displays
· Maintaining well-organized, alphabetized, tidy shelves and displays
· Flexibility and a knack for problem-solving
· Being able to see the small details and stay busy!

Booksellers don’t have time to read or browse the
internet on the job. We love reading in our spare time and are here to share
that passion!
As our store is tiny, most of your time will be
spent working alone. While we provide a lot of direction and guidelines, you
will be trusted to manage yourself when you are on the job.
Previous library, bookstore, or retail experience
is a plus, but we are most interested in finding the right personality for our
store culture. The Managing Owner has ample experience training successful
booksellers and store managers.
Summer/tourist season through December store hours
are 9 AM-6 PM. Winter hours are 9a-5p. We typically split each day into two,
four to five hour long shifts, but we occasionally have one person work the
entire day with an owner covered lunch break. Some flexibility to cover sick
days and such for other staff members is ideal.
Starting wage is $12/hour with room for growth. As
we are an evolving business, we hope to find people who are eager to help grow
sales, which will help us increase pay.
We believe in our own reputation of being kind,
respectful, community-minded employers with high expectations for our staff. We
enjoy doing everything in our power to make you feel like a well-appreciated
member of our team!
To apply, please e-mail 2TBooksGville@gmail.com. Provide
your work history and your availability, as well as a few words on why you
believe you might be the best person for this job! If you choose to use the
Apply Now button on Facebook to submit your work history, we will only consider
your application if you also send an e-mail addressing the other information we
are requesting. We will be in touch with appropriate candidates ASAP. We will
ask for references from those we call in for interviews.
